CBS.COM INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTIONS – FALL 1999

Candidates are required to submit a cover letter, resume, transcript and two letters of recommendation. In addition, a guarantee of school credit to be awarded is required. (For qualified applicants for whom no school credit is available, $8-$10/hour will be paid.) The fall internship will begin September 7 and end December 1. Unless otherwise noted, all interns will be expected to work a minimum of 10 hrs/week.

News Production

The News Production internship requires desire, common sense and computer agility to turn conventional video into web content. Interns will learn about multimedia and work closely with associate producers and producers to augment existing editorial staff. Good writing skills are a must. Preferred skills include HTML, Adobe PhotoShop and Adobe Premiere.

Candidates are required to submit a writing sample in addition to the standard application package requests, and, if hired, will be expected to work a minimum of 2 days/10 hours per week.

 

Entertainment Production

The intern will assist primarily in the processing of multimedia content as well as the day to day operations of the entertainment site. Good editorial skills are necessary. Preferred computer skills include Windows OS, Microsoft Word, PhotoShop and wsftp (or similar application).

The intern will be expected to work a minimum of 10-12 hours per week.

 

Sales and Marketing

The Sales and Marketing intern will assist in developing market research and presentation materials. The intern will also assist in the trafficking of sales sponsorships and advertising campaigns.

Interns will be expected to work a minimum of 20hrs/wk and must be computer adept.

 

Design Development

The Design Development intern will work closely with the department Art Directors to maintain the CBS.com intranet. This will include assisting the affiliates with use of the Production Tool, HTML and graphic applications. Interns will be introduced to how the designerÂ's role functions in coordination with the technical staff, and how News, Entertainment and Development work in relationship to each other to produce a complex website.

The intern should be fluent in either HTML or PhotoShop 5.0 and Illustrator. Java Script and Flash would be a bonus.

Multimedia & Design

The Multimedia & Design team seeks candidates with an active interest in the internet who are aspiring web designers or programmers. The intern should be fluent in either HTML or PhotoShop 5.0. Java Script and Flash would be a bonus.
