CBS Poll: Support For Quick Bailout Growing

The defeat of the House bailout bill on Monday -- and the 778-point Dow plunge -- has moved public opinion towards a quick bailout, although a six-point majority still advocates a more cautious approach, according to a new CBS poll.

On Saturday and Sunday, pollsters found only 35 percent of those polled wanted action "in a few days," with 53 percent saying legislators should "take longer."

The numbers shifted after the vote. Of those surveyed Monday and Tuesday, 43 percent wanted fast action, with 49 percent opting for a more time-consuming approach.
