Bunny and leopard make unlikely friends (VIDEO)

(CBS) - Meet the latest animal odd couple - Paulchen the leopard and Lisa the bunny.

The two animals started their unlikely friendship in a wild animal park in Lower Saxony, Germany.

Paulchen, a 10-month old Amur leopard, was abandoned by his mother at birth and brought up by a human foster family.

So he wouldn't be lonely, the caregivers introduced him to Lisa for company.

They became great playmates and, according to Paulchen's foster mother, the leopard does not recognize Lisa as possible prey.

But, alas, theirs is a starcrossed friendship.

As the leopard grows, the two will be separated and put into their own enclosures.
