NEW YORK (CBS) Bristol Palin may be heading from the dance floor to the classroom.

The "Dancing with the Stars" finalist and daughter of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin reportedly purchased a $172,000 home not far from Arizona State University.

According to TMZ.com, Palin paid for the home - which boasts five bedrooms, two and a half baths and a three-car garage - in cash.

The home, located in Maricopa, Ariz., is just miles from ASU, and reports are speculating that Palin plans to enroll there to study journalism.

The director of media relations for the school denied that Palin has applied to the university.

"Actually it's a rumor. She's neither enrolled nor has she applied to ASU at this time," Sharon Keeler told Reuters.

But if she does decide to apply, a representative from the university's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication told HollywoodLife.com that her application won't receive any special treatment.

"If Bristol's application does come across our table we will treat it just like everyone else's and thoroughly look it over," the rep told the website. "But we can't confirm or deny anything right now."
