Breastfeeding While Intoxicated? Waitress tried to stop it

LESLIE, Ark. - A waitress at a pizzeria in northern Arkansas thought she did the right thing when she saw a customer drinking alcohol while breastfeeding a newborn child, and decided to call the police.

But CBS St. Louis reports, the waitress got fired.

According to Arkansas Matters,  the now ex-employee  of Gusano’s in Leslie, Ark., Jackie Conners, saw the other woman consume multiple alcoholic beverages last Wednesday.

Conners said she decided to act out of concern for the child.

“Me being a mom, and just seeing something like that and seeing a baby that can’t speak for itself having a parent do something like that is just unacceptable,” Conners was quoted as saying.

However, Conners says that days later, she was fired because of her decision to handle the matter herself.

When contacted by Arkansas Matters, managers at Gusano’s said that was not the reason for her termination, but did not provide an explanation.

Meanwhile, the imbibing customer - 28-year-old Tasha Adams - was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor. The child,  just 7 months old, was reportedly released to other family members.
