Blago Skipping Obama's Big Day

(AP)
Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who has been impeached over corruption charges but remains in office, will not attend Barack Obama's inauguration.

The Associated Press reports that despite being "invited to several inaugural events," the embattled governor/long distance runner/quoter of Tennyson has decided to skip the festivities because he would be a distraction.

Blagojevich has been charged with corruption but has not yet been indicted; he stands accused, among other charges, of trying to effectively sell Mr. Obama's Senate seat. His ultimate appointee to that seat, Roland Burris, was sworn in yesterday despite initial opposition from Senate Democrats.

The governor will be tried in the Illinois Senate later this month.
