Avril Lavigne asks for prayers following "health issues"

Avril Lavigne has fans worried after she tweeted about facing some "health issues."

In a Twitter conversation with fan account @AvrilMusicChart the Canadian singer explained why she's been flying under the radar lately: "I feel bad because I haven't been able to say anything to the fans to let them (know) why I have been absent. I'm torn as I'm quite private. I'm not feeling well. I'm having some health issues. So please keep me in your prayers."

Lavigne's rep confirmed the tweet to Billboard, but didn't provide any further information about the singer's condition.

On Monday, Lavigne, 30, posted a more positive-sounding tweet:

Lavigne released her most recent studio album in 2013. She also wed Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger last year.

Kroeger co-wrote and produced some of the songs on Lavigne's fifth studio album.

"I feel like he really believes in me. He's very encouraging and because he's also a singer and a performer I feel like he's different than your average producer and we can kind of tap into something different together because of that. There's a different type of understanding," Lavigne told CBS News.
