Art of the Steal: Mass. student's prize-winning drawing stolen
(CBS) BOSTON - A Massachusetts high school student says she's a little bit flattered that someone stole a piece of her artwork from a state office building, but mostly she's upset.
Emily Moreau, a 16-year-old junior at Chelmsford High in suburban Boston says she was told that three well-dressed men entered the state Transportation Building downtown at about 2:30 a.m. Monday, went straight to the 9-by-12-inch colored pencil drawing she calls "Breakfast," took it down and walked away.
The drawing of a fried egg in a pan with a human eye where the yolk should be won Emily a silver medal in the Boston Globe Scholastic Art Competition.
She called the theft a "backhanded compliment," but says she's more sad and puzzled. She still has a photo of the drawing.
Police are investigating.
Can they develop a sketch of the suspects?
