Andy Garcia returning from China with golf trophy

Professional golfers and celebrities gathered in China over the weekend to participate in the World Celebrity Pro-Am golf tournament.

Actors Ryan Reynolds, Minka Kelly, Adrien Brody and Andy Garcia all tried their hand on the links, as did former NBA player Yao Ming and Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps.

Garcia and golfer Matt Kuchar were crowned team champions on the final day of the event, with a combined stableford score of 92 over 36 holes, according to a press release from the golf course.

Kuchar won the professional individual competition with a total of 84 points, and Chinese actor Wang Zhiwen won the individual celebrity category with a score of 85.

The three winners were presented Waterford crystal trophies during a ceremony on the 18th green of the course.

"It's been great, this is my first time in Asia and it's been a beautiful experience," Garcia said, according to the news release. "I had an extraordinary playing partner and I'm very proud of the trophy. The beautiful thing about these tournaments is that it's great to compete and win but it's more about the memories and relationships you create."

When asked about his impressions of the tournament, Reynolds reportedly said, "I had an amazing time, I learned so much; these tournaments, they're a lot like relationships - you gotta stick with them because you have good days and bad days. I had a few bad ones but I'm just learning. That was the third time in my life today that I've ever been on a golf course and I got to play with [professional golfer] Michael Campbell so it's been great."

The tournament took place at Mission Hills in Haikou, on the island of Hainan, and ran from Friday through Sunday.
