Alpha Epsilon Pi Hazing: Police seeking criminal complaints against 14 suspects for assault again

(CBS/WBZ/AP) BOSTON - Boston police are seeking criminal complaints against 14 people in the alleged hazing of five Boston University students at an off-campus apartment.

Police said Tuesday they are asking a district court to approve charges of hazing, failure to report hazing and assault and battery against the 14, and charges of keeping a disorderly house against three of them. A hearing is set for May 7.

Police said they found five men early Monday at the apartment where members of the underground fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi live, according CBS Boston. The BU chapter has reportedly been recognized by AEPi for about 5 years but is not recognized by the university.

Police said the men were found in their underwear, bound together at the wrists by duct tape and covered with food, condiments and beer. Some had red welts on their skin.

"Appalling... the allegations are disturbing and in no way reflect our values or principles of brotherhood," Jon Pierce, a spokesperson for Alpha Epsilon Pi, told CBS Boston. The station reports that the allegations led AEPi to suspended the BU chapter of their fraternity and all of it's members.

Boston University says any students found responsible could face suspension or expulsion.
