Alabama's Hood Ruled Ineligible

Alabama defensive end Chris Hood was ruled academically ineligible for this season Monday.

Hood, a senior, had been having academic difficulties since the spring. Coach Mike DuBose had excused Hood from practice last Friday and Saturday to prepare for a summer school exam.

    • Hood had been expected to practice Monday, but when the morning session ended, DuBose learned that Hood was ineligible.

    Last season, Hood won the Billy Neighbors Award as Alabama's most improved defensive lineman and was second team Associated Press All-SEC.
