A Popular Painkiller Under Scrutiny

A widely prescribed painkiller called OxyContin is under scrutiny by the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), which is now moving to curb its misuse, thereby targeting a specific brand instead of a class of drugs.

The DEA says it is taking the unprecedented step because of reports from a handful of states where addiction to and abuse of the drug have been rising dramatically.

Pastor Donnie Coots and his son Joshua, in Viper, Kentucky, have personal stories to share with us. Joshua was addicted to OxyContin and is presently recovering. The pastor also runs a recovery group for addicts in their area.
