CBS2's Lisa Sigell spoke with beauty expert Kym Douglas about how you can turn your Thanksgiving leftovers into beauty treatments. Here are Douglas' top tips.
1. Everyone starts Thanksgiving morning off with breakfast, keep it light maybe an egg white or two..... grab another egg white for a tighten facial: Whip it up in a bowl layer it on the face and leave on for 15 minutes while cooking your meal. Rinse of with cook water it will tighten the pores and firm the face your make up with go on like SATIN! And your skin will look like VELVET!
What is needed: 1 egg white, whisk, bowl.
2. Sweet Potatos -- have a few extra? Lets make a SOUTHERN SWEET POTATO FACE MASK:
Sweet potatoes are a significant source of Vitamin A and beta-carotene, rich in antioxidants and very nourishing for the skin. Many dermatologist believe beta carotene aides in production of new skin cells helping to keep our skin soft, smooth and resilient.
1-2 ounces cooked mashed sweet potatoes
1 tablespoon oats (oatmeal)
1tablespoon of honey
Pinch of nutmeg
Mix all of the ingredients together to form a thick paste.
Apply to the face and neck, leave on for 5minutes
Tissue off the bulk, rinse with warm water and gently pat dry skin.
3. Banana's anyone from that great banana cream pie you are making? Lets Go Bananas for great hair.
Yes, its cheap easy and really works...
Bananas: The potassium in this fruit can help soothe blow-dryer and
chemical-induced damage. Mash a ripe banana into a smooth puree, and massage
it into your locks. Let it sit about 15 minutes before rinsing.

Also we all don't want to be wasteful and we want to help the environment so take your banana "peel" and rub the peel on your hands, arms and legs. Banana's contain potassium and lutein which are antioxidants that are ideal for skin. The soothing properties in the peel help in reducing inflammation and makes the skin soft and supple and on your face too the peel has been said to help make pimples disappear.
4. Skin everyone includes a little pumpkin pie in their holiday fare so grab the extra or unused portion of pumpkin for a skin booster and rejuvenator: 1 cup of mashed pumpkin slather on the face & hands, leave on for 10 mins. The vitamins and minerals in the pumpkin will boost the skins collagen and help you look more glowing for the family dinner.
5. Whipped cream moisturizer and shaving cream: Of cores your going to top off your thanksgiving desert with some yummy whipped cream it doesn't really m after if it s out of the can or the real whipping cream either way the lactic acid in the tasty topping will help to moisturize dull dry winter skin. Blop a dollop of the white stuff on your hands arms and legs before waking into the dining room with the big turkey platter everyone will wonder how you can glow and cook. And....... In a pinch if you forgot the shaving cream grab the whip cream it works just as well.
