Suspicious Carport Fire Destroys 4 Vehicles In Orange
ORANGE (CBSLA.com) — Several cars were destroyed Thursday morning in a suspicious Orange County carport fire.
The fire was reported at 4:17 a.m. at the Villa Pointe Apartments, 500 S. La Veta Park Circle, in Orange, officials said.
It took firefighters about 30 minutes to knock down the fire, which forced the evacuation of the complex's residents.
"I saw big flames. One of the cars exploded," resident Jeff Ruen said.
Fire officials said four vehicles were destroyed and 10 were damaged.
The fire also damaged four rear apartments as the heat broke windows and melted blinds.
The fire, which began in a storage unit, was being investigated by an arson team.
No injuries were reported.
