Suspect Leads High-Speed Chase On 10 Freeway In West Covina

WEST COVINA (CBSLA.com) — A motorist refused to yield to officers during a traffic stop in West Covina, setting off a high-speed chase where the driver took to the 10 Freeway and bailed on foot.

Officers first spotted the man in a white 2014 Mustang around 9:50 a.m., according to a dispatcher.

It was unclear why officers tried to pull the driver over.

The suspect sped away and got on the westbound 10 Freeway.

The driver exited the freeway in Alhambra and raced along surface streets.

At around 10:30 a.m., the suspect parked the car at St. Louis and Sixth streets, east of Hollenbeck Park.

He took off on foot, apparently trying to pretend he was your average pedestrian by walking at a slow pace.

Officers with California Highway Patrol, who had taken over the pursuit, approached the man with guns drawn. He surrendered without incident and was placed under arrest.

No word yet on what charges may be filed against the suspect.
