Son, 14, To Be Charged In Murder Of Homeland Security Agent

CARSON (CBS) — A judge Monday ordered a 14-year-old boy to appear in court in two weeks to face murder charges in the death of his father, a Homeland Security agent.

Myron Chisem, 42, was shot to death with his own weapon at his Carson home last week.

The boy, whose name has not been released because of his age, called 911 and said his father had been shot in the back of the head by a bullet that was fired through a window from the backyard of their home.

Lt. Holly Francisco said evidence at the scene, as well as the boy's statements, led to the arrest.

Prosecutors, who say the boy was fighting about grades with his father, will seek to have him tried as an adult when he appears in Juvenile Court.

"I am deeply saddened to report that one of our ICE Homeland Security investigations special agents died tragically at his home in the Los Angeles area overnight," Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director John Morton said in a statement. "This is a difficult time for ICE, especially for the family and the loved ones. Please keep them in your prayers."
