Pedestrian Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash In Downtown LA
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A pedestrian was killed Monday night in a hit-and-run accident in downtown Los Angeles.
The crash was reported around 7:50 p.m. at the corner of 6th and Mateo streets.
Police said a homeless man, about 40 to 50 years old, was walking on Mateo outside of a crosswalk when he suffered a medical condition, which caused him to fall in the street.
One car swerved to avoid him, but another driver ran over him and left the scene.
The victim was transported to the hospital, where he later died of severe head trauma.
Witnesses said the suspected hit-and-run motorist was in a white or beige SUV or minivan.
The investigation is ongoing.
