Neighbors Confront Renter Of Mansion About Parties They Say Disrupt Upland Neighborhood

UPLAND (CBSLA.com) — Neighbors call an 8,000-square-foot property the "Upland party mansion" and say they've even had to call police because the parties there are out of control.

"Kids were throwing beer bottle. They were urinating in my yard," said Dan Chadwick, who lives in the area. "To have this house do what they've been doing this past year, it's really disrupted the community."

Online ads promoting an upcoming party that will shuttle people up to the mansion and rage into the morning have neighbors concerned.

One neighbor says cars from the last party blocked his driveway.

"I may have to get to the hospital. I got a girlfriend that's battling cancer, OK? And I could not have gotten out of my driveway the other night," said Skip Jette, a neighbor.

The man who rents the mansion claims there have only been a few parties and asked CBS2 not to share his name as he spoke with neighbors in front of the camera.

"I want to have quiet," said Jette, while the renter told neighbors: "I want to be safe in my neighborhood."

"It wasn't safe the other night man," countered Jette. "It was scary."

"I agree with you," said the renter.

An ad for an upcoming clothing optional party lists ticket prices.

One neighbor asked if it's a sex party.

"You might be asking me in a different way, 'Are you having a sex party,' " said the renter.

"You're out of control man," said another resident.

While some neighbors are upset about the party, others say they're not mad at all.

"I don't think they had any control and the kids were just showing up and climbing up the hill," said another resident. "They're not going in the front door."

"The other night was a mistake," said the renter. "It went viral on the Internet. I could not control the amount people that showed up at my home. I will apologize to the community for that."

The renter says he isn't running a commercial business and plans on looking into permits for future parties. And, he says, he plans on working with his neighbors.

The actual homeowner of the property didn't return calls from CBS2 for comment.
