National Sleep Survey Finds 8 Percent Of Americans Sleep Naked

COSTA MESA (CBSLA.com) — Eight percent of Americans sleep in the nude, according to a sleep survey released by Costa Mesa-based Anna's Linens.

The linens and bedding company conducted the survey of 3,700 people in honor of National Sleep Day on Jan. 3.

According to the survey, 74 percent of Americans wear pajamas to bed, 8 percent are naked and the rest are clothed in something else. The survey did not specify what "something else" could mean.

"We were surprised 8 percent of our respondents admitted to sleeping naked," Anna's Linens founder and CEO, Alan Gladstone, said.

The survey, which questioned respondents about of a number of sleep-related topics also found that 74 percent of Americans sleep on their side, and 47 percent share a bed with someone who snores.

As for sleep positions, 74 percent of the respondents say they slept on their side, 16 percent on their stomachs and 10 percent on their backs.

The survey also questioned people about their dreams. More than half of the respondents said they can recall less than a quarter of their dreams, while about 10 percent said they can recall nearly all their dreams from that's night's sleep.

As for the quality of dreams, nearly 70 percent said their dreams were not as interesting as those of their friends'. However, another 44 percent said they felt their dreams were "more bizarre" than their friends'.
