HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — John Atterberry, the music executive shot Friday during a rampage in Hollywood, has died, according to the Coroner's office.
Atterberry, 40, was shot in the jaw during the Friday shooting spree. He was taken to Cedars-Sinai hospital where he remained in critical condition until Monday afternoon.
He was declared dead at 4:51 p.m.
The shooter, 26-year-old Tyler Brehm, was shot dead by two plainclothes police officers moments after shooting Atterberry.
Atterberry was identified as a longtime recording industry manager and promoter who has worked with r&b artists like Brandy, the Spice Girls and Jessica Simpson.
His facebook wall immediately filled up with friends expressing grief. To a man and woman, most included "RIP John" and talked about how much they would miss him.
Brehm hit at least three people as he emptied a handgun into cars, and fired wildly from the middle of Vine Street.
Two passing motorists were also hit by bullets that had passed through their car door or window, police said. One was grazed by a bullet in the thigh, the other — a 77-year-old man — suffered glass cuts to his face.
Brehm and his girlfriend of four years had broken up last week although police have yet said if that was the reason he went on his rampage.
