Men, Women Support American Eagle's Lingerie Campaign That Says 'No' To Photoshop

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Men and women alike are showing their support for American Eagle's new lingerie campaign that ditches the use of Photoshop.

The campaign called "aerie REAL" will not use supermodels, airbrushing or photo retouching for its advertisements.

Aerie's style expert Jenny Altman said, "Our customers represent this great demographic and they don't really get to see what girls their age really look like."

Fitness trainer Charlie Dannelly, who has been training women of all ages for more than 20 years, said women come to him with Photoshopped pictures.

He said the photos give an unrealistic idea of what a body should look like.

"It's putting more pressure on a woman to look a certain way and even in their best shape they're not going to look like these women that are Photoshopped," he said.

Sepi Chandan, 28, told CBS2's Brittney Hopper that she exercises daily. She said she sees the ads and pictures of women with the "perfect body" everywhere.

"You see it and you're like, 'Those bodies are amazing, I want to get to that,'" she said.

Chandan said she hopes more brands take note of aerie's groundbreaking move.

"Now I can compare my body to real women," she said.
