Some Anaheim Residents Disturbed By Fliers Linked To KKK

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — Some Anaheim residents were alarmed after a group claiming to be connected to the Ku Klux Klan distributed fliers in their neighborhood.

Greg Morris woke up late Monday morning to find dozens of fliers in plastic zip-lock bags weighted with rocks and lollipops were thrown on lawns in his Anaheim neighborhood.

"It says 'White Lives Matter,' and I have no idea why they put in a sucker in there," Morris said.

Police confirmed a group alleging to be the Loyal White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan tossed the fliers in the front yards of the neighborhood called The Colony.

Neighbors like Dave Garrett are shocked at the hateful messages that read: :"America WAKE UP!!! Real facts about Martin Luther King Day."

"There are some lousy racist people in this world. And they don't belong in Anaheim," Garrett said.

Sgt. Daron Wyatt of the Anaheim Police Department said "I'm sure it was timed purposely for Martin Luther King Day by the organization. It's hate speech. We don't condone it."

Police don't know who is behind the fliers. Neighbors hope the culprit or culprits are caught.

"We just don't need to see garbage like this. It's not the kind of world we live in anymore," Morris said.

"This is an instance of spreading hate, and I would hope they would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law," Anaheim resident Marc Oknyansky said.

Anaheim police said it is not illegal to distribute hate fliers but are asking others who have also come across them to come forward.
