'Chewbacca Mom' Receives Gifts Valued At $420K, University Scholarships

LAKELAND, Fla. (CBSLA.com) — The Texas woman -- who has become known as the "Chewbacca Mom" -- is now laughing all the way to the bank.

After making the world laugh with her viral video via Facebook that shows her trying on a Chewbacca mask, Candace Payne is cashing in on her newfound fame.

So far, she's received gifts valued at $420,000.

They include money for travel to appear on talk shows, a vacation at Walt Disney World, and items from Kohl's.

But Payne's biggest gifts include full tuition scholarships for Candace and her entire family to a Christian university in Florida.
