Care Harbor Will Distribute Wristbands For Free Health Clinic

LOS ANGELES ( — Care Harbor will be distributing wristbands Monday for those wanting to participate in the large-scale free health clinic that will be held later this week.

Starting at 1 p.m. at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization is expecting to give out approximately 4,800 wristbands on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Individuals cannot participate in any part of the three-day clinic, held Sept. 27-30, without a wristband.

Care Harbor, in collaboration with L.A. Care Health Plan, will provide free medical, dental and vision care. Officials are still looking for a few volunteers.

Care Harbor President Don Manelli told KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO how important this event is to those without insurance.

"It's amazing. In LA County, 2.2 million have no insurance, and more without dental insurance," he said. "And when you look at the line, like I am right now, it cuts across a lot of demographics. I mean we got MBA's in line, people who have lost their jobs, people who are working two jobs and have no insurance."

The clinic will be open each day from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
