California Coastal Commission Unveils New 'Whale Tail' License Plate
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — One of California's most popular state license plates is now retired, but a similar one has taken its place.
The California Coastal Commission is showing off the new whale tail design, which features an actual whale instead of Laguna Beach artist Wyland's design.
Officials changed the plate after Wyland requested that 20 percent of profits from his work fund his environmental foundation.
The new plate, which is now available for purchase, was designed by two different California artists.
