Authorities Investigate Discovery Of 3 Human Skulls In Palmdale

PALMDALE (CBSLA.com) — An investigation was underway Wednesday into the discovery of three human skulls in Palmdale.

The skulls were found about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 2500 block of East Avenue Q-4, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokeswoman Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez.

The adult skulls were discovered by Huntington Beach police officers executing a search warrant in connection with a crime committed in the Orange County city.

Authorities are looking into the possibility that the skulls were used as part of a religious practice because they may have been at the location for years.

No one is missing from the residence, Sheriff's Lt. Acevedo said.

A forensic anthropologist will be brought in to determine the identities of the skulls, whose genders was not known. The Coroner's Office will examine the remains to determine whether there was foul play, Deputy Tina Schrader said.
