6 More Women Come Forward To Accuse Rug Store Manager Of Sexual Assault, Offenses

LAGUNA BEACH (CBS) — A registered sex offender already facing charges of sexually assaulting three women at his family's rug store in Laguna Beach was arrested again Wednesday on suspicion of rape, police said.

Saeid Boustanabadi Maralan, 53, of Laguna Niguel, was arrested about 2:15 p.m. another family-run rug store, Sirous and Sons, in San Clemente, Laguna Beach police Lt. Jason Kravetz said.

All the alleged attacks occurred at the Laguna Beach store at 222 Ocean Ave., Kravetz said.

Maralan posted $1 million bail this past weekend, Kravetz said. He was already facing charges of rape, attempted rape, sexual penetration by a foreign object and distributing pornography to a minor -- all felonies.

Since Maralan was charged Sept. 6, six more women came forward with complaints, Kravetz said.

Maralan was booked today on suspicion of rape, penetration with a foreign object and assault with the intent to commit oral copulation, Kravetz said, adding that the crimes occurred in April 2010.

Detectives are deciding whether to seek charges on behalf of other women, he said.

Kravetz said Maralan managed Laguna Beach store, but did not own it as reported earlier.

Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Walker said Maralan is accused of assaulting a 40-year-old woman who came to the rug store with her mother April 10, 2010. After luring the woman to the rear of the shop while her mother filled out paperwork, he pulled down her pants, kissed and groped her before penetrating her with his finger and trying to rape her, Walker said.

In another alleged sexual assault, Maralan is accused of raping a 23- year-old woman who worked at the store on May 15, 2010, Walker said.

On Aug. 13, he allegedly kissed a 25-year-old woman interviewing for a job and pressed his hips against her while was aroused.
