Something Borrowed: A Choice Between True Love And Friendship

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Something Borrowed falls into the "cute" category. It's enough to keep you entertained, but in this case, it just isn't believable.

Part of what makes this movie so "cute" is that it features several of Hollywood's "beautiful people." That includes Ginnifer Goodwin starring as Rachel, a talented attorney at a top New York law firm; Kate Hudson starring as Darcy, Rachel's best friend who ultimately becomes her nemesis; Colin Egglesfield as Dex, the guy Rachel has had a crush on since law school; and John Krasinski as Ethan, Rachel's constant confidante and sometimes conscience.

Something Borrowed is based on the best-selling novel of the same name, written by Emily Giffin. It follows the travails of Rachel and the romantic complications that arise after Rachel has had one drink too many after celebrating her 30th birthday at a party given by best friend, Darcy.

While there are plenty of plot twists to give viewers enough reasons to root for Rachel – who has always played second fiddle to Darcy, and she always thinks only of herself – it still just isn't enough to pull the story off in a way that would make it believable.

But, if you're going to the movies to completely escape reality and get caught up in the fairytale, you will thoroughly enjoy this movie. Even if your main reason in going is just to get an eyeful of the "beautiful people".

Something Borrowed is in theaters now.
