The Detroit Urban Craft Fair technically isn't a summer fair, but is worth attending. It takes place at the Masonic Temple in December each year, and it was started in 2006. Admission is $1, and free for children ages 12 and younger. The DUCF is held annually and is a two-day "alternative craft fair" with over 100 crafters and artists. Interactions between artists and buyers are encouraged, and the fair gives crafters the chance to reach a large audience. The DUCF's mission is to "elevate handmade goods as an alternative to mass-produced items, support and elevate small craft business by providing a place for them to sell during the busy holiday shopping season, and raise awareness of handmade craft."
