Rally Held In Federal Plaza To Save Saturday Mail Delivery

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Postal workers are calling on Congress to improve service, not cut it.

Congressman Bobby Rush rallied the crowd and said it's time for Post Master General Patrick Donahoe to step down.

"It's time for him to leave. It's time to go, Donahoe," said Rush.

Bill Jackson is president of local 1870 of Downers Grove. He says they want Congress to come up with legislation that strengthens the Postal Service, not cut it.

"We have people in every state rallying for the same thing. We'll go to court if we have to stop them, seeing as it is a law that he wants to break" said Jackson.

Jackson says even though many use the internet for communication and banking, there are people who still rely on the US Mail, especially seniors and those in rural areas.
