Missing Car Bumper Leads Police To Arrest Mailbox Vandal

BUFFALO GROVE (WBBM) -- Buffalo Grove police had no trouble finding the man who, they say, plowed over 41 mailboxes in his sister's car in the middle of the night.

Jordan Weiman, according to police, said he was upset. That's why he did it.

They say the 20-year-old had his sister's car, a 2010 Mercury Milan, without her permission.

Weiman told police he accidentally hit the first few mailboxes. And then he kept going, taking out 41 mailboxes in all.

Someone called police around 2:30 a.m. after they said they heard loud noises and looked outside to see
the car running over mailboxes.

But it was what another person found alongside a damaged mailbox that led police to their suspect: a bumper with a license plate attached.

No word why Weiman was so upset.
