HALAS HALL (CBS) With Monday Night Football, comes extra attention from the entire country.
In Brandon Marshall's case, he loves it.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't," Marshall said Thursday as the Bears prepared for Monday's game against the Lions. "I've been watching some of the little Monday Night Football commercials and they have me and (Calvin Johnson) matched up. It's pretty cool. I look at it as an honor."
Bears head coach Lovie Smith talked earlier in the week about the star-power involved in this week's game against the Lions and Marshall is a big selling point.
"I definitely love some attention, you know, I like some of the attention," Marshall said. "But when you have that spotlight on you, you have to show up and perform so it definitely makes it harder. I enjoy it."
Marshall said he can't put any added pressure on himself, knowing that he just has to be the best he can be for his team, but he knows the eyes are going to be on him and Calvin Johnson across the field.
"He's as advertised," Marshall said about the Lions' star receiver. "On my iPad I have my top 10 receivers. I won't say who I have, but he's definitely one of them. I really like what he's doing, I really like where his career is headed. He had an amazing year last year, so a lot of us are trying to keep up to the pace he set."
When Marshall says he has Johnson on his iPad, he's referring to the film he keeps on the opposing wide receiver. Of course, he won't ever go 1-on-1 against an opposing wideout, but that doesn't mean he can't pick up things from his peers.
"Not only do I study DBs, but I study receivers because I want to get better," Marshall said. "There's guys that do things differently and may do some things better than me."
He specifically mentioned how Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald attacks the ball and Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green runs his routes.
"I study different things to add to my repertoire," Marshall said.
Surely, studying a guy nicknamed "Megatron" can't hurt.
