Lawsuit Claims Excessive Police Force Led To Miscarriage
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A lawsuit filed against the Robbins police department claims officers used excessive force last year against a woman who was two months pregnant, causing her to miscarry.
Cherese Morris says she was walking down the street, talking on her phone when three Robbins police officers approached, knocking the phone out of her hand and roughing her up for no reason.
In her lawsuit, she said her shoulder popped when she was handcuffed and was thrown face down in the back of a squad car.
She was then shocked several times with a stun gun, causing her legs to stiffen so much that she knocked out a window.
Two weeks later, the suit says, she had a miscarriage.
Prosecutors declined to approve charges. No comment from the Robbins police department.
