Chicago Residents Hold Fundraisers, Water Drives For Flint, Mich.
(CBS) – Efforts are ramping up in Chicago to get clean drinking water to families in Flint, Mich.
CBS 2's Audrina Bigos reports.
These ladies are partners of Knight, Morris & Reddick Law Group. They're also partners in helping Flint residents deal with lead contamination in that city's drinking water.
"We just went full force on social media," Yondi Morris-Andrews says.
They helped raise $4,000 in just 48 hours. Several donation drop-offs of bottled water are packed.
They're packing a rented truck, which they planned to drive to Michigan Saturday morning.
Chicago firefighter Eric Washington also wants to help. He's raised close to $11,000 in just two days.
Next Saturday, he's asking everyone to bring water here to Hyde Park Career Academy.
"It shows the people of Chicago's character," Washington says.
