Obama & Putin
President Obama will address the United Nations General Assembly in New York this morning. His speech is expected to hit on the crisis in Syria on the same day he's scheduled to talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Their meeting comes amid Russia's growing presence in the war-torn country. Watch the President's speech live on CBSN at 10am ET.
All eyes on Putin
There aren't many world leaders who have generated as much interest as Putin. All eyes will be on him when he speaks at the U.N. today and meets with President Obama, at a time when he has placed himself and his country in the middle of the most pressing issues of our times. Just before his trip to the U.S., Putin invited Charlie Rose for a rare and surprising interview.
Trump 60M Interview
Scott Pelley interviews Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who lays out key policy details, from ISIS to China to healthcare, and reveals a major part of his tax proposal. He tells Pelley he is totally serious about becoming president.
John Boehner
The outgoing House speaker warns of the GOP's "false prophets" in D.C., on "Face the Nation" with John Dickerson.
Departure impact
If Boehner, R-Ohio, has his way, Congress will fund the government, instead of shutting it down when the last spending bill expires Wednesday night. But the stopgap bill the Senate is considering would only fund the government through Dec. 11. So, while the rest of the country will be planning its holiday season, Congress will likely be returning to the issue of funding the government.
Wall Street waiting
Federal Reserve officials say they want to raise interest rates by year-end. But whether the central bank pulls the trigger on the first rate hike since 2006 could hinge on the Labor Department's jobs report Friday.
Mars mystery
NASA plans to unveil a scientific breakthrough that solves what it calls "the Mars mystery." The announcement comes four days after the space agency issued a surprise tweet saying, "Mars mystery solved." But, so far, scientists have given no hints about what that means.
Humiliating Experience
Transgender patient Brandon James (not his real name) visited the emergency department of a trauma center in the southeastern United States. James, described as a masculine transgender man, transitioned using hormone replacement therapy five years before his emergency room visit. But the driver's license he presented identified him as female, and his electronic medical records from previous visits included female gender markers. This prompted confusion among the staff, who began debating his gender out loud.
South Korea plastic surgery
Globally, surgeons performed more than 20 million cosmetic procedures last year. South Korea, a country of about 50 million people, accounted for nearly a million of them. It reportedly has the highest rate of plastic surgery per capita.
Julianna Margulies
Television audiences know Margulies as Alicia Florrick, "The Good Wife" of a disgraced philandering politician -- a stay-at-home mom who goes back to work as a lawyer when her husband goes to prison. As Margulies launches a seventh season, Alicia has changed -- and maybe Margulies has, too.
Tony Stewart
Three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart will retire after the 2016 season, numerous reports say, adding that the 45-year-old will announce his plans at a press conference Wednesday.
