Boston Marathon bombing

Jury deliberations are set to begin this morning in the Boston Marathon bombing trial. Five men and seven women will decide the fate of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev over the attacks that left four people dead and more than 260 injured. Don Dahler reports that lawyers have painted very different portraits of the accused bomber.

On shaky ground

Since late 2009, Oklahoma has had 300 times more earthquakes than in previous decades. A 2014 study connected thousands of small earthquakes to oil and gas production. Manuel Bojorquez reports the study linked the increase in seismic activity to the process of pumping highly pressurized waste-water into the ground -- a byproduct of fracking.

Kenya terror attack

Kenya launched more airstrikes Monday on Islamic militant camps in neighboring Somalia -- retribution for the brutal attack last week at a college in which Christians were sought out and executed. Now, Debora Patta says many families are demanding to know why the security response allowed the attackers to run loose in the school for almost 13 hours.

In the running

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul is set to become the second Republican to enter the 2016 presidential race today, with an announcement planned in Louisville, Kentucky. Here are five things you should know about the "practical libertarian."

Devon and Leah Still

Last June, Cincinnati Bengals player Devon Still's daughter, Leah, was diagnosed with cancer, and doctors gave her a 50/50 chance of survival. Then her father was cut from his team. But those two moments would turn out to be the start of a surprising and remarkable journey for this father and daughter team. Jim Axelrod has the story you'll see only on "CBS This Morning."

Newlywed perseverance

Doctors gave Matthew Davis a very slim chance of survival after a motorcycle accident left him in a coma, but his wife of just seven months, Danielle, refused to give up on him. Vinita Nair reports on how the couple has been defying the odds ever since.

Juvenile justice

New York is one of just two states in which the justice system treats 16- and 17-year-olds as adults rather than juveniles, regardless of the crime. But the "Raise the Age" movement is gaining momentum after New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo launched a campaign in March to rally support for his bill to raise the age of criminal responsibility.

Finding faces

Every year, about 4,400 unidentified remains are discovered in the U.S. Trying to put a name to the remains can be tricky when they've already decomposed extensively, but the rise of 3-D printing has given the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner a new opportunity to share the workload with forensic sculpture students.

Cheap oil vs. recycling

The recent unexpected collapse in oil prices is putting the squeeze on the recycling industry. As a result of crashing crude prices, it's cheaper for plastics companies to use new or virgin materials than recycled stuff.

Chop chop, kids!

Getting kids to eat vegetables can be tricky, but with the rise of obesity, diabetes and other weight-related health problems in children, a growing number of parents, volunteers and organizations is taking on the challenge. One program, Wellness in the Schools, is trying to inspire a passion for food by putting kids in control of the chef's knife.
