3rd teen gets prison in Mich. cattle torture case

(CBS/AP) MENOMINEE, Mich. - The third teen in a trio of cattle torturers has been sentenced to one-and-a-half to four years in prison for his role in the attack in Michigan's Upper Peninsula last summer.

Chad A. Meier Jr., 17, is the last of three Escanaba teens sentenced in Menominee County for the July 2011 attack on three Angus cattle.

Mich. man with sword gets neighbors' attention

(CBS) LANSING, Mich. - Police say a 19-year-old man outfitted in a cape and brandishing a real sword broke into a Lansing home Saturday evening, ignited a fire and then barricaded himself inside, according to MLive.com.

Lansing police Capt. Mike Yankowski said the incident began to unfold about 6 p.m. with reports of a man who had suspiciously walked up to several doors.

Mo. truck driver faces death sentence in slaying

(CBS/KMOX) ST. LOUIS - A Missouri truck driver convicted of killing his live-in girlfriend and chopping her to pieces is to be sentenced Monday in Franklin County.

According to CBS St. Louis, the jury that convicted 37-year-old Vernell Loggins in 25-year-old Stephanie Fields' slaying recommended that he receive the death penalty.

(CBS/AP) DETROIT - Three men accused in the assault and carjacking of popular Detroit pastor and gospel singing icon Marvin Winans, were arraigned Sunday.

Detroit residents Montoya Givens, 20, Christopher Moorehead, 20, and Brian K. Young, 18, were charged with carjacking, unarmed robbery and conspiracy, according to the Wayne County prosecutor's office.
