Jury: Google didn't infringe on Oracle patents

(CNET) SAN FRANCISCO - A jury today unanimously decided that Google did not infringe on two of Oracle's patents.

In the decision at the U.S. District Court of Northern California, the jury in the trial said Google did not infringe on six claims in U.S. Patent No. RE38,104 as well as two claims in U.S. Patent No. 6,061,520.

Diablo III breaks PC-game launch record

(CBS News) Diablo III, the highly-anticipated PC game, sold more than 3.5 million copies in its first 24 hours of release, Blizzard Entertainment announced Wednesday.

"We're definitely thrilled that so many people around the world were excited to pick up their copy of Diablo III and jump in the moment it went live," Mike Morhaime, chief executive officer of Blizzard, said in a press release.

Xbox 360 should be banned in U.S., says judge

(GameSpot) In an ongoing legal dispute between Motorola Mobility and Microsoft, the U.S. could see some versions of the Xbox 360 banned. International Trade Commission (ITC) judge David Shaw has recommended that the trade group ban the import of 4GB and 250GB Xbox 360 S consoles, reports Courthouse News. Genachowski spoke at a convention for the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA), saying that "usage-based pricing could be a healthy and beneficial part of the ecosystem."

Airbnb will insure up to $1 million in property damage

Airbnb will partner with insurance agency Lloyd's of London to insure wary hosts.

Eugene Polley, inventor of TV remote, dies at 96

Microsoft: 500 million will run Windows 8 in 2013

(ZDNET) Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer predicts that more than 500 million people will be using Windows 8 by the end of next year, AFP reports.

Ballmer, who was speaking at a forum in Seoul, South Korea, also expects Windows 7 to hit the 350 million device milestone later this year.

Time Warner, Comcast to offer free Wi-Fi hotspots

(CBS News) Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Bright House Networks, Cablevision and Cox Communications announced Monday that the cable giants will ban together to create one big network of free Wi-Fi hotspots.

Simply called "CableWiFi," the network will provide over 50,000 hotspots in major metropolitan cities. Bright House Networks has already launched the services in New York City and central Florida.
