Virginia shooting

The shopping plaza where two journalists were gunned down on live television Wednesday is reopening to the public today. Reporter Alison Parker and photographer Adam Ward of CBS affiliate WDBJ in Roanoke were killed in the ambush. CBS News is learning more about the gunman's actions following the deadly shooting, as well as his rocky employment history. Jeff Pegues reports from Moneta, Virginia.

Stocks yo-yo

Despite a vigorous two-day rebound on stock markets worldwide, several factors suggest investors should remain cautious.

Words to wise

Here's how seasoned investors and professional advisors act during times of market volatility.

Ongoing efforts

New Orleans lost more than half its population after Hurricane Katrina. For many, there was no place to live. Some 134,000 homes were damaged or destroyed but since then, 81 percent have been reconstructed, thanks to an army of builders. CBS News correspondent Michelle Miller reports on the ongoing effort.

Katrina Rewind

Ten years ago this week, America watched helplessly as a beloved city was nearly swallowed by the sea. "60 Minutes" was on the ground in New Orleans within days, capturing Hurricane Katrina's heartbreaking aftermath for the story. Whole neighborhoods were submerged in murky water as desperate residents waited for rescue.

Bashing China

Along with all the glad-handing, stump speeches and posing, there is another mainstay of presidential campaigning: bashing China. Chip Reid reports from the White House, which is getting ready to host China's president, despite growing pressure not to from the campaign trail.

Rubio: What does he stand for?

The Florida senator has billed himself as a fresh face for the GOP -- but is he conservative enough to win over the grassroots? (This is the latest in a continuing series examining where the 2016 candidates stand on five key issues: education, immigration, the economy, social issues and foreign policy.)

"A hard rock"

Former Vice President Dick Cheney was changed personally -- as was his view of the world -- by the September 11th terrorist attacks, he tells correspondent Lee Cowan in an interview to be broadcast on "Sunday Morning" August 30. Among other things, Cheney says it made him more of a "hard rock."

Videos Honors

Love affair

"NCIS: New Orleans" star Scott Bakula helped produce a new docu-series called "New Orleans, Here & Now," 10 years after Katrina. He told CBS News he's fallen in love with New Orleans -- and how it came to be.
