Deadline passes

The fates of a Japanese journalist and Jordanian military pilot were unknown today, a day after the latest purported deadline for a possible prisoner swap passed with no further word from ISIS, which has been holding them captive. CBS News correspondent Charlie D'Agata reports there was no sign of either hostage or their ISIS captors at the site along the Syrian border with Turkey -- believed to be the location of any hypothetical prisoner swap.

Suge Knight arrested

Death Row Records founder Marion "Suge" Knight has been charged with murder and was being held on $2 million bail, CBS Los Angeles reports. Knight turned himself in to authorities early today after, his attorney said, the rap mogul accidentally ran over and killed a friend and injured another man as he fled attackers.

Super prices

Super Bowl tickets can still be yours this morning, but the price is nothing short of astronomical. On StubHub, the world's largest source for second-hand tickets, they start at more than $7,000, with the top seats going for more than $40,000. Only on "CBS This Morning," CBS News correspondent Carter Evans describes how far the company is going this weekend to protect buyers.

Super ads

The Super Bowl isn't just the biggest day of the year for football fans -- it's also the most highly anticipated day for advertisers. The "Ad Bowl" has become the single costliest day for them, with a 30-second spot fetching $4.5 million. The real cost can easily be double that amount. But for companies, the big game offers an even bigger opportunity: to capture the business of the roughly 100 million people tuning in not only to watch the game, but watch the commercials.

Life-saving telemarketer

For most people, the last thing they want is for a telemarketer to be on the other end of the phone, but for one Oregon woman, that unwanted call from Las Vegas saved her life. Vanessa Murphy of Las Vegas affiliate KLAS reports on a woman's cry for help.

Community relations

This week, Loretta Lynch -- President Obama's attorney general nominee -- promised Congress that if confirmed, she would make improving relationships between police forces and citizens a "key priority."

2016 PAC

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, is the latest Republican to formally announce he is considering a presidential bid, with the launch of a political action committee (PAC) called Security Through Strength. The PAC will allow Graham to raise money, travel and hire the staff necessary to determine if there is a path forward for him in the already-crowded 2016 race. He told CBS News correspondent Nancy Cordes that the name of the group "embraces who I am and what I'm trying to achieve."

Price of progress

America's antiquated air traffic control system is getting an upgrade, with an overhaul through the FAA's NextGen designed to keep up with increasing air travel and the push for on-time flights. As CBS News correspondent Ben Tracy reports, however, parts of the country are paying a steep price for progress.

Pet dentists

Dental care isn't just for humans. Dogs and cats need it, too. Many dental problems that dogs and cats face are similar to those that affect humans, including not just braces, but an animal version of invisalign.
