Four Police Officers Suspended in Beating, Tasing of Unarmed Student Caught on Cell Phone Video

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) San Jose Jose, Calif. police say four officers present at the beating of an unarmed Vietnamese student have been placed on paid leave. The student, 20-year-old Phuong Ho, was struck repeatedly by police with batons and a Taser gun — and the whole event was caught on cell phone video.

The officers are being investigated on criminal charges in the Sept. 3 incident, a San Jose Police spokesman said.

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) ESPN staffer Brooke Hundley remained "hopeful," according to her MySpace page, even as her former lover, baseball analyst Steve Phillips was fired by the network Sunday.

Phillips checked himself into "an inpatient treatment facility to address his personal issues," according to his representative, Steve Lefkowitz.

Michael Brewer, Boy Burned by Bullies, Getting Better

NEW YORK (CBS/AP) Michael Brewer, the South Florida boy who was set on fire by a group of teens is showing improvement, according to doctors who are treating him for severe burns.

Brewer, 15, is being treated at a burn center jointly run by the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida. The center director said Thursday the teen's wounds have not become infected, which is a common complication in severe burn cases.
