DA: Kevin and Elizabeth Schatz Killed Daughter With "Religious Whips" for Mispronouncing Word

CHICO, Calif. (CBS/KOVR) Three years ago, Kevin Schatz and his wife Elizabeth did something so noble, a local television station featured them; the pair decided to adopt three children from Liberia. Now, they're accused of killing one of the children because she mispronounced a word.

Prosecutors say that the California couple used quarter-inch plastic tubing to beat their seven-year-old adopted daughter to death.

AUSTIN, Texas (CBS/AP) Joseph Andrew Stack's seething hatred for the IRS appeared to have roots at least two decades long, judging from the web post he left behind before crashing his plane into in an Austin, Texas office building Thursday where some 200 employees of the tax agency worked.

The anti "tax man" fuse may have been lit in Stack in 1986, when the software engineer confronted a change in tax law, that required companies using high-tech contractors to withhold part of their salaries for income tax purposes.

Ohio Police: Samson Ojo Rapes Woman in Theatre, Finishes Watching Movie with Wife, Kids

ONTARIO, Ohio (CBS) Samson Ojo, a 24-year-old Ohio man, took a bathroom break at the movie theater to rape a young woman, then returned to finish watching the film with his wife and kids, police told CBS News' Crimesider.

On Sunday, Feb. 14, Ojo allegedly followed the 21-year-old woman out of a movie at the Cinemark Theater about 70 miles north of Columbus. Police say he stalked her in the bathroom, then forced her into an empty movie theater where he raped her.

NIU Shooting: One Injured on Northern Illinois University Campus

DEKALB, Ill. (CBS/AP) Two years after a shooting rampage at Northern Illinois University (NIU) left five students dead, including the shooter, and 12 injured, someone opened fire on another student this morning.

Police have a suspect in custody and one person is injured.

The victim was taken to Kishwaukee Community Hospital for treatment, according to police. The person's condition is not known.
