Racial profiling

In the wake of clashes at protests in Ferguson, Missouri, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder says new Justice Department guidance will aim to end racial profiling and ensure fair and effective policing. Holder said in a speech yesterday night at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta - where the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. was a pastor - that he will unveil details of the plan in the coming days.

Gay blood

An FDA panel meets today to review the 1977 federal ban on blood donations by any man who has had sex with another man. CBS News Julianna Goldman reports, it is a longstanding federal regulation that many in the gay community say stigmatizes and discriminates against them. They and many in the medical field will gather at the FDA headquarters to find out if the FDA panel will support the measure.

Combating Ebola

The United States is making progress in its efforts to combat the brutal Ebola virus abroad and to prepare for it domestically, but Congress needs to urgently pass emergency funding to keep up the efforts, President Obama plans on saying later today at the National Institutes of Health.

OSU player death

A preliminary autopsy shows an Ohio State University football player died from a gunshot wound to the head, but questions continue to swirl around Kosta Karageorge's apparent suicide. Malware

The FBI sent an alert to U.S. businesses on yesterday warning them of malicious software that was used in the attack against Sony Pictures, sources tell CBS News Correspondent Bob Orr. The five-page confidential warning -- which did not identify Sony or any other business as victims in the cyber attack -- provides technical details about the malware. The cyber attack came with the release of a Sony film looming on the horizon.

Cyber backup

It's high-tech backup for an officer who patrols without a partner. Santa Cruz is one of two police departments in the United States now testing the technology. CBS News Correspondent Bob Orr reports on a remarkable technology that sets help in motion the moment a gun is drawn.

Shared workspaces

A new trend is turning a day at the office on its head. CBS News Correspondent Ben Tracy reports on a shared workspace for individuals and small startup firms where a handful of employees choose to share the space rather than work from home or Starbucks.

Visiting home

After weeks of rigorous training, a group of cadets -- attending an academy near Los Angeles -- made their first visit home. For many of them, home is the place where their lives went wrong. CBS News Correspondent Michelle Miller reports, for Crista Hopkins, it's the place where she learned words can be used to say something painful. Watch the "CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley" Tuesday night for the next report in the Youth Challenge Academy series, and meet the people changing kids' lives.

Experienced drivers

One in six cars on the road is now being driven by someone age 65 or older. Despite a reputation for being slow and collision-prone, a new study by AAA has found just the opposite. CBS News Correspondent Jeff Pegues reports, ninety percent of seniors say they haven't had an accident or even a moving violation in the past two years. And they've heeded the warnings not to talk on their cellphones while driving.
