Jan. 6 panel issuing report week after next

The House panel investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol plans to release its final report the week of Dec. 19 and will likely make criminal referrals to the Justice Department. The House voted to repeal the military's COVID vaccine mandate in passing a sweeping $858 billion defense spending measure. And newly minted one and five dollar bills were signed, for the first time ever, by women: Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and U.S. Treasurer Lynn Malerba. Their signatures will appear on bills going into circulation next year.

Michael Fanone on "The Takeout"

Former Washington, D.C., police officer Michael Fanone joins Major Garrett on the 300th episode of "The Takeout." Fanone recounts how he was "frantically searching for ways to survive" when he was attacked at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Fanone says he voted for Donald Trump in 2016 but now believes he "doesn't represent any of us, he only represents his own self interest." Fanone also discusses his relationship with lawmakers, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Trump's mounting legal troubles

Former President Donald Trump is facing scrutiny for his actions leading up to the January 6 attack and for possibly mishandling classified documents that led to the FBI's Mar-a-Lago search. A Florida judge will hear from several media organizations, including CBS News, asking to release the affidavit related to the operation. CBS News senior investigative correspondent Catherine Herridge reports from Washington, and CBS News legal analyst Rikki Klieman joined "CBS News Mornings" to discuss.
