Penn's big regret

Sean Penn has spoken to CBS News about his controversial, secret interview with Mexican drug cartel boss Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman. The Hollywood A-lister's meeting with El Chapo helped Mexican authorities find the fugitive, but that isn't Penn's one "terrible regret" about meeting the criminal.

No apologies

The Republican front-runner has been scolded by President Obama -- and some members of his own party -- for his angry rhetoric and raising doubts about Ted Cruz's eligibility for the presidency. In Thursday night's debate, he was as angry and unapologetic as ever.

Fact check: Trump

In Thursday night's Republican debate, front-runner Donald Trump warned against letting Syrian refugees into the United States, arguing that the refugee process could be a "Trojan horse" for terrorists and that he had noticed a distinct majority were "strong" young men. Facts, or fiction?

Fact check: Cruz

Ted Cruz made a claim of his own in the Thursday night debate, that "we have the lowest percentage of Americans working today of any year since 1977. Median wages have stagnated." Cruz is right that this figure has not been as low since 1977 and that wages have stagnated, but is that the whole picture?

Social debate

One particular point of contention between two of the Republican candidates stood out as a clear hot topic for debate watchers posting about the face-off on Facebook. Donald Trump sparred repeatedly with rival Ted Cruz on the theme, but there were other focal points of social media discussion around the debate.

Cuban vacation?

President Obama wants Congress to lift the decades-old trade embargo on Cuba. U.S.-Cuban relations have thawed and tourism has increased, but it's still unclear when Americans will be able to travel freely to the island nation, and Cuba may not be ready for an onslaught of American tourists.

OscarsSoWhite

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences promised changes a year ago after 2014 Oscar voters nominated only white actors and actresses. The Academy is now under fire again for a lack of diversity, but one critic says don't blame on the Academy, but the industry itself.
