Deadly tent collapse
Safety officials in northern New Hampshire worked through the night investigating the collapse of a circus tent during a severe storm that killed two spectators and injured at least 22 other people last evening. Dozens of emergency crews from surrounding towns rushed to the scene, reports CBS News correspondent Vladimir Duthiers. The storm, packing 60 mile-an-hour gusts, hail and much lightning, blew through around 5:30 p.m., just as the first of two scheduled shows was beginning.
California wildfires
There is a new battleground this morning in Northern California's massive Rocky fire. It jumped a vital containment line late last night, north of highway 20. Thousands of homes are in danger. It is one of more than two dozen wildfires in the West. Nine-thousand firefighters are battling flames from the air and the ground. CBS News correspondent Ben Tracy reports from the command post in Lakeport.
Trump leads poll
Donald Trump (24 percent) leads a fractured Republican field in the race for the GOP presidential nomination in the latest national CBS News poll. Immediately behind him are Jeb Bush (13 percent) and Scott Walker (10 percent). Trump leads among a wide array of Republican primary voters. He appears to have tapped into public anger toward Washington: He holds a large lead among Republican primary voters who say they are angry.
Debate heats up
The looming congressional vote on the nuclear deal with Iran is turning the Capitol into a crucible as supporters and opponents ratchet up their lobbying before senators leave town at the end of the week.
Trophy hunting
Big game hunters have felt a backlash ever since Cecil the lion was killed. They insist that hunting, done ethically, benefits endangered animals through millions of dollars funneled to conservation efforts. American Airlines and Delta announced they will no longer ship big game trophy animals. CBS News correspondent Anna Werner looks at the larger debate over legal trophy hunting.
ATM attacks
The number of attacks on debit cards used at ATMs recently reached at least a 20-year high, according to data from Fair Isaac Corp. (FICO), the company behind the well-known FICO credit score. It found that debit-card compromises at ATMs on bank property surged 174 percent from Jan. 1 to April 9, while attacks on non-bank machines leaped by 317 percent during the same period.
"Fast and Furious" sings
Although Tyrese Gibson has been known for his acting roles on the big screen, including the "Fast and Furious" franchise, music is his first love, he said during a recent visit to CBS News. Gibson wants you to listen to his new album, "Black Rose," in full. No one listens to an entire album these days, he says.
