GOP Debate

After three previous debates that focused largely on the personalities in the Republican presidential field, the candidates in Wednesday night's debate had an opportunity to stake out some clear policy positions, and they took it.

Swim for vets

Five months ago, Navy veteran Chris Ring started his mission to bring attention to the families of the fallen, by swimming the entire length of the Mississippi River. He spends six to eight hours a day, six days a week, in the muddy water. We meet the man behind the mighty tribute.

Anger vented

Thousands of Afghans have swarmed the streets of Kabul, blasting ISIS and the Taliban after seven civilians were beheaded, but also calling for their leaders to step down over their inability to stem the bloodletting.

Fantasy sports

It's a crackdown on daily fantasy sports' largely unregulated gameplay as New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman ordered FanDuel and DraftKings, two of the biggest fantasy sports companies, to stop accepting bets in his state. Schneiderman tells CBS News about his cease and desist order.

Singles Day

It's Singles Day in China. Launched in 2009, the tradition quickly turned into the world's biggest online shopping day of the year -- nearly five times larger than Cyber Monday in the U.S. We get a behind-the-scenes look at online retailer JD.com's operations as they ramp-up.

Simple foods

Making "simple" food can be complicated, but when it comes to winning consumers these days, less appears to be more. Companies like Campbell Soup are taking months to pare down recipes for popular products. The message is clear; less is more, and now there's a race to shed ingredients but keep mouths happy.

BBQ battery

In the latest courtroom dispatch from journalist-turned-Florida-public-defender Kim Segal, she explains how a young man's hopes of joining the Army were delayed by what turned out to be an apparently-weak claim from a customer at McDonald's of an attack -- with packets of barbeque sauce.
