North Korea nuclear threat, global cyberattack, and Trump's border wall

Kim's new threat

North Korea claims it has successfully tested a new missile capable of carrying a "large, heavy nuclear warhead." While the veracity of that specific claim is still unclear, it was the regime's most successful missile test to date, and a key U.S. ally warns it is further evidence that, "we have entered a new level of threat regarding North Korea."

Massive attack

Experts say the ransomware attack on computer networks that began last week was unprecedented, and could still be a threat. The European police agency says more than 200,000 computers in at least 150 countries were affected, and widespread new disruptions were reported today in Asia. Still, the global attack could have been much worse.

Invisible wall

President Trump is banking on Congress to approve federal funding for his planned border wall this fall, but Republican lawmakers are not guaranteeing it, raising questions about whether Mr. Trump's most prominent campaign promise will ever really come to fruition.

"Visa mills"

The Trump administration is scrutinizing a federal visa program that brings tens of thousands of temporary foreign workers to the U.S. each year. Drawing less attention is how people might use bogus visas, as well as fake academic degrees, to enter the U.S. Are visas really a national security soft spot?

Zero-sum game?

Good news, workers: Wages finally look set to tilt up, lifting many people's financial prospects and delivering a badly needed jolt to the economy. But while that would be a boon for employees, a pick-up in pay could dent corporate profits and buffet the stock market.

Hazing death

The parents of Timothy Piazza, a 19-year-old Penn State student who died in February at a Beta Theta Pi fraternity house after an alleged hazing ritual, are trying to channel their grief into action. We look at how Timothy's family and girlfriend are struggling to make sense of how he died.
