iPhone 6 fans already lining up a week before Apple unveils it

Some fans just can't wait to be the first to bite into a new Apple product. Twitter user Dan Benton snapped a picture of the line already starting to form outside Apple's flagship store in New York City on Wednesday.

Apple will unveil its new devices at an event next Tuesday. Industry experts are widely anticipating two different size iPhones and a new wearable device. If the past is any indication, the devices unveiled Sept. 9 could start shipping Sept. 19; last year, the iPhone 5S and 5C were announced on Sept. 10 and became available 10 days later.

The new iPhone 6 will compete with several new smartphones from Samsung, including the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note Edge, and Galaxy S5, along with the HTC One and others, which all offer mobile wallet features and larger screen sizes. The new iPhones are expected to offer a similar line of features. Screens are expected to grow from iPhone 5's 4 inches to 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models; the larger one may have a shatter- and scratch-proof sapphire screen instead of Gorilla Glass.

Rumors also abound about Apple's new wearable device, often nicknamed the "iWatch" although what it will look like is still a closely guarded secret. The wearable is expected to incorporate Apple's HealthKit health monitoring technology, among other features.
