Duchess Kate makes first public appearance since Prince George's birth

Kate got back to business on Friday, making her first pubic appearance since she gave birth to Prince George.

The Duchess of Cambridge joined Prince William as he kicked off the Ring O' Fire ultra marathon in Anglesey, Wales, where she chatted about babies with onlookers.

According to the U.K.'s Daily Mail, Kate said the couple's 5-week-old son is doing "very well" and that her mother, Carole Middleton, was babysitting.

"He's with granny at the moment. He's sleeping well but I know these things change at a minute's notice," she told fellow mom Sarah Bingham.

Wearing a silk Zara blouse, a green Ralph Lauren blazer and Paige jeans, Kate stood alongside her husband as he rang a bell to start the 135-mile race around the island of Anglesey, where the couple currently lives.

A source told the Daily Mail, "Initially the duchess wasn't going to attend but she was also keen for the chance to thank the people of Anglesey herself for the warmth and hospitality they have shown her and the duke."

The next official engagement on the duchess' calendar is set for Sept. 12, when she'll attend the inaugural Tusk Conservation Awards with William.
